Zoho Mail IMAP and SMTP settings
Zoho Mail runs regional data centres. The host changes with the region: .com, .eu, .in, .com.au and .jp each have their own endpoints.

- 1
Enable IMAP access in Zoho Mail Settings → Mail Accounts → IMAP.
- 2
If 2FA is on, create an app-specific password under Security → App Passwords.
- 3
Pick the host for your data centre: zoho.eu, zoho.in, zoho.com.au or zoho.jp.
What usually breaks
Zoho has regional data centres. Match the MX suffix: mx.zoho.eu → imappro.zoho.eu, mx.zoho.in → imappro.zoho.in, and so on. The global .com host can reject or misroute regional accounts.
Zoho blocks IMAP for some free plans; a paid plan may be required.
Resolve it instead of hardcoding it
A custom domain on Zoho Mail has the same MX infrastructure as the consumer product. That is what mailintel reads.
import { mailintel } from "mailintel";
const result = await mailintel("[email protected]");
result.provider; // "zoho"
result.connection.imap; // { host: "imappro.zoho.com", port: 993, security: "tls" }
result.connection.smtp; // { host: "smtppro.zoho.com", port: 465, security: "tls" }
result.connection.username; // "[email protected]"What is Zoho Mail's IMAP server?+
imappro.zoho.com on port 993 using SSL/TLS. The username is the full email address, and an app password is required when two-factor authentication is enabled.
What is Zoho Mail's SMTP server?+
smtppro.zoho.com on port 465 using SSL/TLS. Most clients also accept the alternate submission port with STARTTLS.
Does Zoho Mail need an app password?+
Yes, in practice. Zoho Mail rejects normal account passwords for IMAP and SMTP once 2FA is on, so generate an app-specific password.
Which Zoho Mail endpoint should I use?+
It depends on the account: Personal / free (imap.zoho.com / smtp.zoho.com); Global business (imappro.zoho.com / smtppro.zoho.com); Europe (imappro.zoho.eu / smtppro.zoho.eu); India (imappro.zoho.in / smtppro.zoho.in); Australia (imappro.zoho.com.au / smtppro.zoho.com.au); Japan (imappro.zoho.jp / smtppro.zoho.jp); Canada (imappro.zohocloud.ca / smtppro.zohocloud.ca); China (imappro.zoho.com.cn / smtppro.zoho.com.cn). Match the region or product to the account.
